Frances Snyder has written about Indian gaming and specifically about her gaming tribe, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, for nearly two decades.

Her articles and op eds have appeared in Santa Barbara News-Press, San Francisco Chronicle, and Indian Gaming Magazine. In addition, when she was a spokesperson for her tribe, she was quoted in The Economist, the Los Angeles Times, as well as numerous local newspapers such as the Santa Barbara News-Press, Santa Maria Times, and was also interviewed on local television stations.

While she worked for her tribe, she also created a 110-page glossy lifestyle magazine for casino patrons, produced mini-documentaries on her tribe, and marketing videos for her tribe’s casino.

Prior to working for her tribe, she worked in public relations and marketing in the corporate world, internally as a public relations manager and also as a communications consultant for various Fortune 100 companies such as Levi Strauss & Company, Visa International, Bank of America, and IBM.

She has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from San Francisco State University and a master of arts degree in communication from Stanford University.

She retired in 2020 and began working on her memoir.
